Friends of the CMHR is hosting Gala 2022 – Raising Our Voices, a two-day, gala event taking place on November 16 and 17, 2022. At the virtual and in-person gala dinner on November 17, we will honour Gail Asper, O.C. O.M. LL.D. as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and Gail’s remarkable journey to make the CMHR a reality.
Our keynote speaker for this year’s gala is Kimberly Davis, Senior Executive Vice President of Social Impact, Growth Initiatives & Legislative Affairs at the NHL, who will speak to how we can work together to further diversity, equity and inclusion in Canada. Recent world events serve as reminders that intolerance of diversity continues to exist within our society. We proudly join hands with those working toward greater inclusion and equity.
In addition, we are excited to share a second event to celebrate our gala. We will be holding a special Youth Event in the CMHR on November 16. This event will bring hundreds of children to the CMHR to hear from Kimberly Davis as she shares the potential of developing leadership skills through sport, helping our young guests to explore the possibilities for their futures.
Join us to for an engaging program of entertainment, reflection and inspiration.

The event was incredibly educational, heart-wrenching, inspiring, thoughtful, and the performances were absolutely beautiful. Congratulations on an impactful event!
My deepest thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in last night’s gala. It was incredibly moving, beautifully filmed and heartfelt in every way. Hearing and feeling through words, art, dance, song and yes, even the moments of silence, brought heartbreaking stories to life in a powerful and hopeful way.
