Human rights have always been an interest for Alika. And thanks to you, she was able to visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights this winter.
Alika shares what she learned: “This trip showed me many views on human rights all over the world.”
“The thing that had the most impact on me during this trip was learning about genocides. It really astonished me to know how people have treated each other in the world.”
“I also learned how we can better improve our understanding of the many complex issues we face today. That’s the first step in advocating for human rights, social justice, and truth and reconciliation.”
“This trip was really valuable because it showed me different views and perspectives. It really opened my eyes. Overall, I hope that I can continue to learn and broaden my views.”

Alika visited the Museum along with a group of students from her school in Saskatchewan. They are part of a group called Miyo-Wîcêhtowin, which is Cree for “living in harmony.” Together, they promote respect and understanding in their school.
Thanks to your support, the group was able to visit the Museum for in-depth training on human rights. The admission cost was covered by kind donors like you.
Other students on the trip also shared their how the experience impacted them. Katrina, a Grade 11 student, said: “I gained knowledge that will forever impact not only me… but our school and community as well.”
You also encouraged Sarah, a Grade 10 student on the trip. “I have made it my lifelong mission to make this world a little better,” she says. What an incredible goal for a young person! And it’s all because of you.
