5th Anniversary Gala: The Future of Human Rights in Canada

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Since opening in 2014, the Museum has built a national and international dialogue about the importance of human rights, and become a place where we can better understand who we are as Canadians and where we want to go together.

To celebrate, the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights are delighted to host the Future of Human Rights in Canada gala on Sunday, November 3. The gala will take place in Bonnie & John Buhler Hall at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg.

We are also very proud to be hosting our special guest for the evening, The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin PC CC CStJ, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada — the first woman to serve in that position.

In addition to being a trailblazing jurist, she is also a best-selling author and the recipient of many honorary degrees. Ms. McLachlin will offer her unique perspective on emerging human rights issues, changing human rights discourse and expanding human rights in Canada.

After her keynote address Ms. McLachlin will be joined onstage by Ian Hanomansing, co-host of CBC’s The National and one of Canada’s leading journalists, for a conversation about the future of human rights in Canada.
